The Red Dot Design Award, organized from Essen, Germany since 1955, is one of the world's largest and most recognized design competitions, split into three disciplines: Product Design, Brands & Communication Design, and Design Concept. An international jury evaluates entries on criteria including degree of innovation, functionality, formal quality, and longevity.
The red dot label is used on packaging and marketing worldwide, and winners are exhibited in Red Dot Design Museums in Essen and Singapore. Distinctions include the Red Dot, Red Dot: Best of the Best, and the rare Red Dot: Luminary.
