About This Award

Great Taste Awards is a annual industry award recognizing excellence in Hospitality. Organized by Guild of Fine Food, it covers the Europe region. Established in 1994.

Great Taste, run by the UK-based Guild of Fine Food since 1994, is a product accreditation scheme in which food and drink from producers large and small is blind-tasted by panels of chefs, cooks, buyers, food writers, and retailers. Every product that earns a star has passed a rigorous, independent judging process, and the logo displays the year judged and the star rating — making it one of the most trusted shelf signals in specialty food retail in the UK and increasingly internationally.

Awards run from 1 star ("simply delicious" — roughly 28% of entries), to 2 stars ("outstanding" — about 10%), to the rare 3 stars ("exquisite" — under 2% of entries each year). All 3-star products are re-judged for regional Golden Fork trophies and the overall Great Taste Supreme Champion, announced at the annual Golden Forks ceremony. For small producers, a star materially helps with listings — the Guild's PR and trade campaigns reach a claimed 35 million consumers annually, and winners get logos, certificates, and directory listings to convert the award into distribution.

Entry is per product via the MyGuild platform, and capacity is capped, so enter early: the 2026 cycle opened 2 December 2025 and closed 27 January 2026, with results announced 28 July 2026. Published fees run from £49 per entry (+VAT) for small Guild-member producers to £169 for large non-members, with supermarket own-brand products at £310; fees scale by company turnover and Guild membership. Judges score the product in the state a consumer would experience it, so strong entries are honest, well-labelled products submitted with accurate preparation instructions — a bursary offers emerging businesses one free entry.
