RSAC Innovation Sandbox is a annual industry award recognizing excellence in Technology. Organized by RSA Conference LLC (RSAC), it covers the Global region. Established in 2005.
The RSAC Innovation Sandbox is the flagship startup competition of the RSAC (RSA) Conference, run by RSA Conference LLC since 2005. Each year hundreds of submissions are narrowed to a Top 10, who deliver a three-minute live pitch on the conference stage for the title of 'Most Innovative Startup.' The judging panel is unusually heavyweight for a pitch contest — the 2026 panel included the co-head of Global Technology Investment Banking at Morgan Stanley, JPMorgan Chase's head of global technology strategy, Verizon's CISO, and cryptography researcher Paul Kocher.
Since 2025, every Top 10 finalist receives a $5 million uncapped SAFE investment, not just the winner — an arrangement RSAC has confirmed continues for 2026. The track record explains the contest's pull: RSAC states that more than 200 companies have been finalists over 20 years, collectively raising over $17.8 billion and figuring in more than 100 M&A transactions, with alumni including Imperva, SentinelOne, Wiz, Axonius, and BigID. Finalists also get exposure to more than 44,000 conference attendees and 400+ media members, making it arguably the single most-watched stage in cybersecurity.
Entry is for companies, not individuals: for the 2026 cycle, eligible startups had to be privately held with under $5M in revenue or ARR, with a recently launched, customer-validated product that can be demonstrated live. Submissions opened October 14 and closed November 14, 2025 (a mid-October to mid-November window is typical), with the Top 10 announced in mid-February and the contest held at the conference the following spring. No entry fee is published. Even non-finalists benefit from the forced discipline of the format — RSAC's own advice is to treat the three-minute pitch and its Q&A as the entry's core, backed by clear evidence of an original approach to a real cybersecurity problem.
