Star Kashman

Star Kashman is a subject matter expert on the intersection of law and cybersecurity. Ms. Kashman published the first scholarly article on Search Engine Hacking (a/k/a Google Dorking) in the Washington Journal of Law, Technology & Arts and expanded on her publication in her Law360 article titled ”Search Engine Hacking Needs a Legislative Fix". She currently serves as the leading legal expert on this vital gap within cybersecurity law and uses her research, events, and speaking engagements to advocate for proper regulation and protect the public from lesser-known cybercrime methods.

In April, Ms. Kashman led a group within the Brooklyn Law School Incubator & Policy Clinic (BLIP) to host influential figures from the legal, cybersecurity, and national security spheres including Mark Rosen, Jonathan Askin, Carrie Goldberg, and the OwlSec founders to address Search Engine Hacking and its legal implications. In addition to events she organizes, she is an educator in the legal community at events including the NYCLE's first mandatory CLE event for cybersecurity where she discussed critical cybersecurity concerns facing legal professionals. She has received an award in recognition of her research as well.
