Sonu Mehta is a Senior Research Software Engineer at Microsoft Research India. She graduated at the top of her class with a B. Tech in Computer Science and Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Jodhpur. She later graduated with 4/4 GPA from Harvard University with Masters in Computational Science and Engineering. She has recently started her PhD at IIT Delhi Computer Science Department. She is working in the area of extreme classification (Applied Machine Learning). Previously, she has worked in the area of applying AI/ML techniques to improve DevOps processes, on a project called Sankie. She has developed a related files recommendation system called Rex that is being used by thousands of developers within Microsoft which help them prevent serious service disruptions caused by misconfigurations. She has also worked in the area of using ML to model test-selection which will help save about 15% to 30% of COGS for running test-cases while still being able to catch more than 99% of bugs.
