MOSIP (Modular Open Source Identity Platform) is a global project that has facilitated the registration of over 100 million people across the globe, for unique digital IDs. IIIT-B leads the MOSIP project since 2018, currently supported by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Tata Trust, NORAD, and the Pratiksha Trust.
Focused to achieve SDG Sustainable Development Goals Target 16.9 defined by United Nations - provide legal identity for all, including birth registration by 2030, MOSIP envisions a digital future that is interoperable, inclusive, & trusted, with a DPI approach.
MOSIP, in a nut-shell, is an open-source, open standards-based foundational identity platform. It provides a basic framework to create a fully functional foundational identity system. MOSIP offers ID Lifecycle Management features & identity verification capabilities. It is designed to help countries build their own national ID platforms by providing flexibility to choose & customize the features according to their requirements. MOSIP maintains the privacy, security, and confidentiality of an individual's data & provides scalable, accessible, inclusive & vendor lock-in free (open source) solutions.
