Melonie White did not set out for a career in cybersecurity but discovered her passion while working in the public sector. With a BA in International Affairs from Florida State University and a Juris Doctor from the Florida State University College of Law, Melonie is certified in the Law of Data & Security Investigations, specifically, the legal and ethical implications of using and storing data and the various legal frameworks that govern privacy and data laws both internationally and within the United States. Combining her passion with her education and experience has given Melonie a strong background in training, legal analysis, and strategic expertise. Melonie offers a refreshing perspective in the cyber security arena, advocating for a more diverse workforce in order to increase the presence of diverse thought and experience in high profile technology roles.
Melonie’s career experience includes policy and statutory creation and implementation, risk assessments and mitigation, privacy assessments and mitigation, disaster recovery, cybersecurity, privacy, risk management and compliance training, internal and external audit coordination and remediation, and payment card industry compliance. She has detailed knowledge and experience with IT governance processes, activity-based costing/management, IT acquisition, contracting, and supply chain processes.
Understanding that cyber security can be daunting, Melonie previously lent her expertise by serving as president of ISACA's SheLeadsTech, a program that is dedicated to increasing the representation of women in technology leadership. Melonie lends her expertise as an adjunct professor for the Florida State University College of Law and currently serves as the Director of Risk, Privacy, and Compliance for the Florida State University.
