Ms. Joanie Fredericks is considered a modern-day African Phoenix, having survived physical, sexual, and psychological violence throughout childhood and motherhood. Her mission is to emancipate and empower women in underprivileged communities through her foundation, Tafelsig Mitchells Plain C.A.N, a nonprofit organization dedicated to her philanthropic pursuits. Added to this, Joanie is also a formidable businesswoman in her own right and has founded Ladies Own Transport Services, a for-profit enterprise aimed at offering gender-safe, reliable services to women.
