Jemima Abu is an award-winning self-taught front-end developer and recognised public speaker. She is actively involved in the tech community and has spoken at several international tech conferences with audiences ranging from 20 people to 20,000 people. She also creates content to help people start their tech journey and has been published in several highly-rated online magazines such as freeCodeCamp, CSSTricks and EnvatoTuts.
Her passion for sharing knowledge and her front-end expertise led to her acceptance into the Google Developers Expert program in 2023, a global network of thought leaders and technical experts recognised by Google for their positive impact on the technology community.
She's dedicated to increasing diversity and inclusivity in the tech space by directly mentoring and tutoring women. She has volunteered with female-empowerment initiatives such as Pearls Africa, teaching the basics of coding to girls from less privileged environments and GirlCode Academy as a tutor to women looking to switch career paths into technology.
In 2024, she obtained the Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies certification presented by the International Association of Accessibility Professionals. That same year, she also won the Makers Women In Software Powerlist Award and was shortlisted for the WeAreTechWomen TechWomen100 award.
