Christina Montgomery is IBM’s Chief Privacy Officer (CPO) and an IBM Vice President, bringing almost three decades of experience to bear on the world’s toughest technology challenges including AI ethics, the responsible use of technology, and bias mitigation. As Chief Privacy Officer, Christina oversees IBM’s responsible tech approach to ensuring the ethical and inclusive use of artificial intelligence and directs all aspects of IBM’s privacy work. In addition to serving as CPO, Christina also chairs IBM’s AI Ethics Board, a multi-disciplinary team responsible for the governance and decision-making process for AI ethics policies and practices.

With more than 20 years of operational and legal experience across a broad array of businesses, Christina initially joined IBM in 1994 as an attorney supporting IBM Sales and served in a variety of other positions throughout the Law Department. As a senior leader at IBM, Christina plays an integral role setting the company’s agenda on responsible, ethical, and inclusive use of technology, an industry-leading approach recently hailed (https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2021/09/case-study-on-ibm-ethical-use-of-artificial-intelligence-technology/) by the World Economic Forum and Markkula Center for Applied Ethics at Santa Clara University.
