Alex Tingle

Alex Tingle was one of the first four female members of the technical staff at ColdQuanta, the leader of Cold Atom Quantum Technology. She currently serves as Product Manager of Quantum Devices and has almost a decade of industry experience in R&D, functional test design, and vacuum engineering. She holds an MSc in Physics from the University of Colorado Boulder where she researched under industry titans Jun Ye and Deborah Jin at the Joint Institute for Laboratory Astrophysics (JILA).

Alex’s leadership style can be described as empathetic. She has been incredibly fortunate to have made strong connections with formal and informal mentors throughout her career. Knowing how much that support has meant to her both professionally and personally, Alex aims to return as much of that as possible to her colleagues, employees, and younger people in the industry. Alex often jokes that she is the most productive when she “feels human.” By showing up and supporting people as complex beings with complicated and diverse backgrounds, Alex demonstrates how teammates can together create satisfying and productive work. Alex has both formally and informally mentored a number of colleagues, encouraging them to pursue stretch roles and directly advocated for advancement opportunities. Alex is often described as a “community-builder” based on this approach.

Alex believes that inclusion and belonging start with feeling respected and appreciated and is something everyone deserves in their workplace and their community. She strives to set an example with how she interacts with her colleagues by learning more about them and their work, organizing social events to strengthen internal support networks, and contributing to a culture of gratitude by ensuring the teams get public and private recognition.
