British Insurance Awards is a annual industry award recognizing excellence in Finance. Organized by Insurance Post (Infopro Digital), it covers the Europe region. Established in 1995.
The British Insurance Awards (BIAs) are organized by Insurance Post, the long-established UK insurance title published by Infopro Digital, and were first presented at Grosvenor House in July 1995 — the program consolidated Post Magazine's earlier standalone awards into a single scheme and has now been recognising excellence in UK insurance for over 30 years. The awards attract hundreds of entries from every sector of the general insurance market — insurers, brokers, MGAs and service providers — with a shortlist announced in spring ahead of the summer ceremony.
Categories span the breadth of the UK market: headline honours such as General Insurer of the Year (won by QBE in 2026), employer and talent awards like Best Insurance Employer, and categories covering broking, personal and commercial lines, customer experience and technology, with the lineup refreshed most years (2026 added Employee Benefits Insurer of the Year and split Insurance Partner of the Year into Professional Services and Technology). Winners are revealed at the Royal Albert Hall before an audience of close to 2,000 industry guests, which makes the BIAs the most visible awards night in UK general insurance and a meaningful differentiator in a broker-driven market.
Entries open in late autumn and typically close in late February or early March — the 2026 deadline was extended from 27 February to 6 March — with the shortlist following in spring and winners announced at the July ceremony (8 July in 2026). Entry fees are not published on the awards site. Strong entries are evidence-led: measurable customer outcomes, claims and service performance data, and a clear story of what changed in the entry period rather than general corporate positioning.
